OUR FAVOURITE SCOTTISH WEDDING TRENDS

To celebrate the opening of our new Glasgow boutique, we have pulled together all of our favourite wedding ideas which are trending in Scotland right now. From a castle in the Highlands to your nearest City Chambers, here’s how we would style your wedding.

Traditional Tranquility

We love an unapologetic, quintessentially Scottish wedding. If you want to fully embrace Scottish tradition into your day, here’s what we would recommend.

Set the scene with one of Scotland’s many castles, like Rowallan Castle (pictured above), which is situated just outside of Kilmaurs in Kilmarnock. Use a contrast of dark and light colours throughout your day to really make your photographs pop. Try combining your historic venue with jewel tones, like emerald or sapphire, and white or ivory flowers. Use some fabric from your dress and combine it with a strip of Tartan to create a gorgeous handfasting knot.

For your dress, think classic and timeless. Our designer Josephine Scott is renowned for creating traditional gowns with a modern twist, which will make you feel elegant and modern at the same time. With rich satins and flattering construction, and available in our new Glasgow boutique, Josephine Scott is the perfect designer for your traditional day

So maybe a full-on traditional affair isn’t your thing, and you want a bit more of a modern vibe while still paying homage to your roots.

We think a venue with traditional architecture and modern decor - like the recently renovated Brig o’Doon in Ayr (above) - is perfect for this. Keep your colour scheme light and neutral, with a soft accent colour like sage green or lavender. Subtle and minimalistic decor with lots of fresh flowers would definitely complement a modern wedding.

Bring the drama with a statement dress. A statement dress with a long train and ornate lace would keep all eyes on you on your big day. Elysee Bridal gowns are inspired by neoclassical architecture and exude femininity while remaining on-trend. If you want a regal gown which complements your personality, Elysee is the designer for you. Try them on in our Glasgow boutique.

City Chic

We adore city elopements. A simple city wedding with your nearest and dearest can relieve a lot of stress during the planning stages, but it also gives you and your partner a bigger playground for photographs.

A smaller-scale wedding allows you more opportunity to insert fun into your day. Drink champagne from the quaich, laugh with your partner, go to your favourite pub after your ceremony, have an intimate meal in the heart of Edinburgh, or party the night away in Glasgow. The opportunities are limitless. A monochrome colour scheme would provide an effortlessly cool look, and allow for some instantly pinterest-worthy photographs.

Pairing a mini dress with a chapel-length veil is one of our favourite bridal trends right now, and it would be perfect for a wedding day in the city. One of our favourite bridal minis is Mya by Made With Love, who can be found in our Glasgow and Bristol boutiques. Designed for the carefree, chic bride, Made With Love has some amazing options for you.

Barn weddings give the perfect cosy and intimate vibe. If you and your partner want a laid back day with all of your family and friends, then a barn wedding may be for you.

Bachilton Barn (above) is located a short drive away from Perth, and is ideal for a boho-chic wedding. Include all of your favourite colours throughout the day with varied flowers and mix-and-match bridesmaid dresses. Candles and fairy lights provide ethereal lighting, and lend themselves to a relaxed atmosphere where you and your guests can celebrate all night.

Rosa Clara is a great designer for your barn-style day. Her collections feature dresses like Azalea (top left) and Calec (top right). Her delicate designs have an organic romantic air, and can be found in our Glasgow and Bristol boutiques.
